Second International Scientific Conference “The Islamic Republic of Iran in the Era of Global Change”

On March 18, 2025, the Second International Scientific Conference, titled “The Islamic Republic of Iran in the Era of Global Change”, was held at INION RAN, organized by the Department of Middle and Post-Soviet East Studies.

The conference welcomed over 60 participants, including distinguished scholars, experts in Iranian studies, orientalists and emerging researchers from various cities and regions across Russia, as well as from Iran. The primary objective of the conference was to examine the Iranian factor in global political and economic processes, explore the central trajectories of Iran’s policies in the Middle East and Central Asia, and analyze the influence of ideological and value-oriented factors on the foreign policy of contemporary Iran.

During the plenary session, Dr. Alexey V. Kuznetsov, Dr. Sc. (Economy), Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Director of INION RAN, addressed the audience with opening remarks. He expressed his congratulations to the conference participants and extended his best wishes for the success of their scholarly endeavors.

Following the plenary session, the participants proceeded with in-depth discussions across four thematic sections. Each session was marked by dynamic exchanges and probing questions, reflecting the engagement of both speakers and the numerous attendees.
