On 23–24 January 2025, the XXIV International Scientific Conference, titled “Russia’s Modernization Amid the Emerging Global Order”, was held at INION RAN. Organized by the Department of Economics, the event brought together researchers and experts from various scientific institutions, universities and research centers across Russia, Armenia, Belarus, China, Germany, Israel and Uzbekistan. Over 100 papers were presented at the conference.

The plenary session, featuring presentations by distinguished scholars Alexander A. Shirov, Alexander A. Auzan, Alexey V. Kuznetsov and Alexander M. Libman, addressed key global trends reshaping the international order. These included structural and technological shifts in the world economic system, the transformation of political, cultural and economic institutions, changes in the geography of cross-border trade flows, deglobalization and their implications for Russia’s society and economy.

The conference also featured seven breakout sessions, which focused on current socioeconomic challenges in different countries and regions, specific industries and their intersections with legal and cultural issues. Each session was followed by lively discussions, with active participation from both presenters and attendees.

The research presented at the conference is expected to be published in the academic journals “Economic and Social Problems of Russia” and “Social Novelties and Social Sciences”.
